What was the situation?
CC was referred to us for counselling and was having a really hard time dealing with family issues. After speaking to her on the telephone we arranged to meet at The Angel Centre to chat about some of the activities available. She confided that a lot of her problems had started when she retired after working in a care setting for 30 years. CC loved her job and colleagues and felt that something was missing.
What was the intervention?
CC decided that she would like to try one of the art classes as the only way to lift her mood was to start socialising again and she would also be learning a new skill. She discovered that not only did she find it therapeutic but she was also quite creative and this helped to boost her confidence and self esteem.
What was the outcome?
CC now attends several activities and recently told me that she had forgotten how to enjoy herself and didn’t think she could have fun anymore but coming to the centre had helped her realise that she can.
