What was the situation?

E was referred into us due to very low in mood, she didn’t socialise with anyone since the passing of her neighbour the year before. E is a transgender woman and has found it difficult in society since becoming a woman.

What was the intervention?

E received wellbeing calls from us weekly fand we referred her onto the foodcycle scheme and the healthy eating intervention. E seemed to become more and more open to ideas of getting involved with different activities and we introduced her to our Garden Needs programme. It took her a while to get there and we had a couple of times when she couldn’t do it but eventually she came along.

What was the outcome?

E started Garden Needs and was very open with the other service users about her current situation and of her past, she felt this way she was being honest and didn’t need to worry about hiding anything. E was welcomed and fit into the group instantly. She loves coming to Garden Needs and has built a close friendship with another service user. Her confidence has gone higher and higher as the weeks have gone on and her enthusiasm while there is amazing, some weeks she rings and is feeling low and nervous but with reassurance and a little pep talk she’s always keen to get back for her sessions.
