What we do

A hub for green wellbeing across Greater Manchester.

Garden Needs is a centre on the border of Salford and Prestwich, right on the edge of the Kersal Dale Woodland. We run a regular mental health and horticulture project on-site, alongside green wellbeing projects and interventions in parks and green spaces across Greater Manchester.

The site hosts forest school training, woodland wellbeing for adults, a mental health and horticulture project, a pre-school forest school, green social prescribing, holiday clubs and outdoor education services for schools.

Our projects

Four ways to take part.

Mental Health & Horticulture

A friendly, non-clinical service for Salford people struggling with their mental health — combining nature, outdoor activity and peer-to-peer support.

Woodland Wellbeing

Forest-school skills applied to adults of all ages — guided walks with foraging, shelter-making, tree ID and nature navigation in parks and woodland near you.

Forest School

Full-time pre-school nursery rated OFSTED Outstanding, plus forest-school holiday clubs running from February half-term through to October.

Outdoor Training

On-site Level 4 Forest School Trainer offering accredited training for adults (Levels 1–3) and award programmes for children aged 5–16.
