What was the situation?
J has tried to quit smoking previously but has he had an alcohol addiction and never seemed to be able to stop. For him cigarettes and beer seemed to go together and he found it really difficult. He then went into rehab for help with his drinking and his life started to get back on track.
The average amount he smoked each day would be around 15-20 and he knew it was starting to affect his health as he was coughing a lot and easily got out of breath.
What was the intervention?
Following rehab J decided it was time to have another try at giving up the cigarettes so he got in touch about the E-cigarette scheme.
What was the outcome?
J started to use the E-cigarette with a view to reducing the amount of cigarettes he smoked each day, he did this for the first week and then stopped the cigarettes altogether and solely used the e-cig.
J has now managed to quit smoking and said the e -igarette has really helped him to do this. He felt it worked this time because he felt motivated to do so and support was at hand when he needed it.
